Firing the Cannon is a blog devoted to the evolving film canon, the old and the new. It will sift through the modern day festival circuit looking for diamonds in the rough, and through the history of film searching for hidden gems.

About the Author

Joshua Starnes has been a film critic since 2004, writing for Coming Soon!, Vital Thrills and Houston Community Newspapers. He holds degrees from the University of Houston and Johns Hopkins University. In 2016 he published his first original graphic novel, Spook, and in 2018 wrote the series Kulipari: Dream Walker for Netflix. He is a member and past president of the Houston Film Critics Society.
